Sunny Deol’s upcoming historical drama Batwara 1947 has reportedly been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts. According to sources, the film has been awarded an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate, allowing it to release in theatres as scheduled on August 14, 2026.
The CBFC certification was issued on July 23, and the film has a runtime of approximately 145 minutes (2 hours and 25 minutes). Reports indicate that the censor board did not require any edits, a notable development for a film based on the sensitive backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Batwara 1947 stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, and Abhimanyu Singh. The film is inspired by Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya O Jamya E Nai and explores the emotional and human consequences of India’s Partition.
